Two San Diego Companies Solve Beauty Operators' Dilemma
SAN DIEGO, CA - July 9, 1999
WaveWare Communications and b-Mobile, both headquartered
in San Diego, today announced interoperability of their products,
b-Mobile's Mobile Beauty Assistant and WaveWare's WaveSync
Synchronization Server. Mobile Beauty Assistant is a software suite
for the Palm Computing® connected organizer that electronically
stores on a single, pocketable device, all of the information used
by a typical beauty operator to conduct business including the
schedule book, customer list and formula record file. WaveSync,
the premier synchronization server for the Palm Computing® platform,
provides a central facility for remote backup of the data on these
Palm organizers as well as a platform for access to electronic mail
notification services and efficient dissemination of new beauty p
roduct information.
With this combination of Mobile Beauty Assistant
and WaveSync, beauticians are able to maintain all of their records
in electronic form on a device that can fit into a pocket or purse,
but that can be easily restored should the device be lost or misplaced.
Mobile Beauty Assistant supports an intuitive entry and editing system
for record keeping that's easier to use than pencil and paper.
And WaveSync frees the beautician of dependencies on a personal
computer for backup, while still allowing them the convenience
of electronic entry and storage of their records. Backups
can be performed anywhere using a Palm wired or wireless modem.
With a single button push,
the user of Mobile Beauty Assistant can backup his books,
send electronic mail reminders to his customers, and collect a
wealth of new product information. If the organizer is lost,
a replacement device can be provisioned with simple two button
pushes, thereby rescuing the owner from the potential disasters
like a misplaced or damaged record book. Martha Dennis, CEO of
WaveWare, says of WaveSync: "We're thrilled to be able to bring
the advances and convenience of the electronic age to the beauty
industry while providing the protection that businesses
in this industry deserve."
